Blanket on the Sun

Time goes by and I find myself still listening
To all those dreams made of histories
  that might have been.
Nothing stays the same.
Nothing more remains of that now.

Why do I try to make a lie worth believing in?
When all lies do are get you trapped inside
   what should have been.
Let the morning come.
Time to put a blanket on the sun.

When darkness falls
You can let it all fall away,
Then it's just you and me.
No more need to say
If it's real or not.
The picture you forgot.
Let it fade away.

When darkness falls
You can let it all fall away,
Then it's just you and me.
No more need to say
If it's real or not.
The picture you forgot.
Let it fade away.

And I look outside my window
   at the breaking dawn,
And I know the shadow's been holding on
   for far too long.
Nothing's lost or won.
No more blanket on the sun.
It's all been said and done.
No more blanket on the sun.
