Underground

Look what a waste
All my time has been to me.
Out on the case
Is one place I will never be.
Caught up in the race
Would be nice to settle for,
Not to wake up anymore
With all this light through an open door,
Not even fate could follow me-
Back where I'm bound,
Back underground.

Are you still high?
When everybody else is down.
You tell me why,
When there's nobody else around.
You want to fly,
But you're still standing on the ground.
Trying not to make a sound,
But planning long to leave this town,
Planning long to go-
Back where you're bound,
Back underground.

All the time I spent waiting for another kind
  of season,
Another day that never found its way.
In my mind I can see that a part of me
   is reaching
For something lost and found,
Something not around,
Something underground.

Look what a waste
All my time has been to me.
Out on the case
Is one place I will never be.
Caught up in the race
Would be nice to settle for,
Not to wake up anymore
With all this light through an open door,
Not even fate could follow me-
Back where I'm bound,
Back underground.
